What was your background before volunteering with Advance Care Planning Australia?
I was a lawyer for 25 years and then I worked in Human Resources and Management.
What led you to begin volunteering?
I think death is one of our last taboos and think we should talk about it more. In my research about death and dying I found Advance Care Planning Australia. I received emails from them and saw the course to become a volunteer and here I am!
What is your favourite part of volunteering?
My favourite thing about volunteering for Advance Care Planning Australia is when someone calls up with a problem and I have been able to help them solve it.
What’s one thing you wish more people knew about advance care planning?
I wish people knew that advance care planning is a process that involves thinking and talking about what you want to happen when you are dying, not just filling in a form.
