Our work
We aim to improve the systems and policies that support and enable advance care planning. This includes laws, standards, service delivery policies and procedures, clinical information systems, and professional education and training.
Examples of our work include:
- providing input to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission about guidance on advance care planning for aged care providers as part of the Strengthened Aged Care Standards
- bringing key stakeholders together for a national roundtable on digital systems
for advance care planning documents in May 2024 - working with the Australian Digital Health Agency and others to improve digital health systems that enable timely, secure, and person-focused sharing of advance care planning documentation across settings
- exploring current challenges with key stakeholders at a Victorian roundtable on advance care planning in specialist disability accommodation in June 2025.
We also make submissions to relevant inquiries and reviews. Recent examples include:
- WA Law Reform Commission Review of the Guardianship and Administration Act 1990 (WA)
- Modernising My Health Record Bill 2024 - Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs, Parliament of Australia
- Strengthened Quality Standards, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
- Paediatric Palliative Care Clinical Guidelines - Palliative Care Australia
- Care Pathways for Older People with Cancer - Clinical Oncology Society of Australia
